Details on information provided
The Ordre has three categories of members: geologists, geologists-in-training, and inactive geologists.
Geologists entered on the Roll are the only persons authorized to use the title of “geologist” and to practise professional activities exclusive to geologists, as defined by article 6 of the Geologists Act.
Geologists-in-training are entitled to practise professional activities exclusive to geologists under supervision of a geologist. They must identify themselves as “geologists-in-training” and sign as such.
Inactive geologists are members who are not practising. This category includes geologists who are retired, and other geologist currently not practicing either unemployed, on parental leave or on study leave. In order to be authorized to practise the profession in Québec, these individuals must ask to be entered on the Roll of the OGQ as a “geologist.”
