If you do not have three years of experience after graduation, you may register as a Geologist-in-training using Form J under one of the two following procedures on stated conditions:
- You hold an accredited Québec geology degree; use option J-1 with the required supporting documents.
- You hold another degree or other training; use option J-2 or J-3 with the required supporting documents. You will also have to undergo an evaluation of equivalency. This may entail that additional forms are to be filled with additional fees.
- You are a registered G.I.T. in a Canadian Association of Professional Geoscientists : use form J with the required supporting documents (as for J1 or J3). OGQ admits GIT transfers. Conditions may apply.

- Certified student record for B.Sc. and copy of diploma
- Photo signed and dated (attached)
- Copy of birth certificate
Holder of other degree
- Certified student record for B.Sc. and copy of diploma
- Copies of student records for M.Sc. and PhD. and diplomas
- Photo signed and dated
- Copy of birth certificate or passport
- For a degree from outside Canada, or a Canadian degree not in Geology: complete form D-5 for requesting an evaluation of equivalency, and attach a description of the program and details of courses.
